My favourite sugar cookie recipe!

I made cookie sweethearts. You know, like the sweetheart candies that everyone gets as a kid on Valentines Day! So, I made five different colours/flavours of frosting and wrote little messages on them like, “hug”, and “hot”, and “love.”

These were my Valentine’s gift to my boyfriend, Josh, and I only intended on making a dozen or two for him and me. However, I pulled this recipe out of a holiday cookbook and ended up with more cookies than I knew what to do with (about four dozen I’d say)! Fortunately, they’re really good, so people didn’t mind eating them. (;

So, here is the original cut-out sugar cookie recipe (frosting not necessarily needed) I used to make these delicious cookies! Keep in mind, this is the recipe I used that created a gazillion cookies, so I suggest using this for Christmas when you make all your holiday cookies at once, or quartering the recipe.

Easy and Tasty Cut-out Sugar Cookies


– 1 pound softened butter
– 3 cups sugar
– 4 eggs
– 2 cups evaporated milk
– 10 cups flour
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 2 tsp baking soda
– 6 tsp baking powder
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 1/2 tsp almond extract (I didn’t put any in, because I’m allergic to almond and don’t keep any around)

Preheat oven to 350°. Mix all the things! Mix your dry ingredients, and add the wet ingredients. Chill for one hour in the fridge. Roll out dough on a floured surface and begin to cut with cookie cutters. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until a light golden colour. Cool on a cooling rack and frost as desired.
